Functional Sculptures and Textiles
King Celia Functional Sculptures are as happy being Sculptures as they are vessels. They’re handmade using 90% recycled content. Reused packing vessels create an inner base former onto which Jess sculpts with recycled packaging materials using coiling and piling techniques. They are finished with papier mache.
KCS advocates Slow Design with fabrics and Functional Sculptures made to order reducing waste. Lead times are approx 4 to 8 for fabrics and 2-4 weeks for functional sculptures. Some items are available more quickly so please enquire directly.

It’s in the making
‘I wanted to design objects utilising waste materials and I wanted them to be sculptural but also potentially functional. Studio experimentation led me to developed a process inspired by the practice of coiling in ceramics. I create coils from waste packaging materials such as plastic bags and I wrap them around up-cycle vessels. Each highly individual piece is handmade in my studio and celebrates organic form, hand-making and transformation.’
